How to Cosy up your Bathroom for Winter - 1 - Showers Direct

Making your bathroom feel cosy this time of year, is what some would call, a necessity. When the cold dark nights roll in there is nowhere better to be than washing the day away with a nice warm shower or bath. Though sometimes, we tend to overlook what it means to slow down, cosy up and embrace the winter months. Below we share tips on how to cosy up your bathroom than can also transfer to other rooms in your home.

Tips to cosy up your bathroom

Add warm metals

An ongoing trend that is ever so popular is replacing chrome hardware with warmer metals. If you’re looking a dramatic change, why not ditch cool-toned chrome fixtures for warm coppers, bronze and brushed nickel like this Mira Opero mixer shower. This not only looks great all year round but especially during the colder months to add a touch of warmth, making it extra cosy.

If new fixtures are not in the budget, you can always add similar warm tones through paint, peel and stick wallpaper, seasonal plants, and accessories.

Fresh new towels

Nothing screams cosy and inviting that wrapping yourself in a fresh clean bath towel straight off the radiator after your shower. During winter, it’s the perfect time to give your towels a refresh. You can wash your towels at 30/40º on their own with a cup of white distilled vinegar and then hang them to air dry or on a low setting in the tumble dryer. This should help fluff them up again and give them new life. If your towels are a bit worse for wear or decades old, it might be time to invest some new towels to see you through.

Lots of textures

Just like your towels, you want items in your bathroom that trigger the senses. Soft and natural materials will be appeasing to the eye and touch.

Rainfall shower head

To add a touch of luxury to your cosy bathroom, and fully unwind after a long day, why not opt for a ceiling fed showerhead or deluge? With many showers offering a dual outlet option you can get the best of both.

Candles and dim lighting

Lighting is key, if you have harsh bluish lighting in your bathroom or lighting that is not flattering at all. It could be a perfect opportunity to explore your lighting options. It’s amazing what the right lighting can do to a space. Look for softer, warm hues. That could be replacing light bulbs, adding re-chargeable LED lamps or smart bulbs to change the room setting entirely. If you want to keep the room moody, go for candles – battery powered or the real mcCoy, either will give you a subtle glow around the room, enough to help you navigate around while still adding a calming atmosphere and a gentle rest for the eyes.

No phones or tablets

When you want to cosy up a space, you want to remove any unwanted distractions. Smartphones, tablets should be turned off or left in another room as this is a chance to completely disconnect and unwind and an opportunity to fully embrace a moment for yourself.

Take time to read a book, or do a crossword, if you need music opt for the radio anything that doesn’t involve screen scrolling.

Make it a little personal

Cosy often goes hand in hand with feeling. If you’re going for a bath, a relaxing shower or nighttime routine. Adding personal touches that make you feel calm, joy or comfortable like your favourite book, bathrobe, scented candle, or snack. Anything that will make it feel just for you and not the rest of your household.
